Doorstep is one of our church’s local mission partners, providing Topekans with the support they need to live fuller, more self-sufficient lives. From combating hunger to offering individuals and families the services and resources they need to enjoy independent lifestyles, Doorstep is committed to extending a helping hand to our forgotten friends and neighbors in their time of need.

SUPPLYING MORE THAN THE BASICS

EMERGENCY & SHORT-TERM NEEDS: Whether they’ve lost everything in a house fire or are living alone with a disability, Doorstep’s up-front emergency services are for those who require assistance with critical needs while they wait for additional aid. We don’t impose income guidelines for emergency services, though most of our neighbors who use these services are at or below the poverty line.

Short-term assistance is designed to help those recovering from a sudden loss of employment or health-related issues. These solutions are designed to help our neighbors get back on their feet rather than cope with long-term needs. 

  • Clothing (Tuesday-Friday – Once every two weeks)
  • Food (Monday-Friday – Once every 30 days; this is intended to provide three meals for five days)
  • Prescription Medications (Two times per 12-month period – $150 cap)
  • Rent (Referral from EAS – One time per 12-month period)
  • Transportation (local gas vouchers/bus tickets – Vouchers available two times per 12-month period)
  • Utilities (By appointment, if funds are available – One time per 12-month period)

NEED FOR FOOD

The need for food assistance has remained high. Doorstep needs your help now to stock our pantry shelves, especially until the order arrives next week!

We are completely out of, or low on, food items:

  • Spaghetti Sauce
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • Tomato Soup
  • Pancake Mix
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Egg Noodles
  • Hamburger & Tuna Helpers
  • Tuna
  • Scalloped / Mashed Potatoes
  • Spaghetti O’s
  • Baked Beans (canned)
  • Saltine Crackers

with BOXES OF STUFFING:

Help us collect 100+ Boxes of stuffing for our local partner, Doorstep Inc. Our donation will be added to the Holiday Food Boxes being shared with over 800+ individuals needing help this holy season.
